A Look In the Dark
In technical theatre, students learn the skills necessary not only to put on a play, but to build the set as well. Given the nature of Reidsville High School's stage we offer several golden opportunities that other theatre's don't typically have at the high school setting.
We offer during the duration of the course studies in tools, hardware, set construction, lighting design, sound design, theatrical rigging, and proper safety techniques for all equipment. As an added benefit to taking the course, students are able to work with professionals who offer their assistance in these areas. The two largest concern with this course are the use of power tools and the height of the areas the students traverse. As these two concerns in some case can be harmful, we ask any student taking the course to have proof of insurance.
Below are images of the students sets that they have built while Mr. Murphy has been the theatre teacher at Reidsville High School. Again, we would like to remind you that the work you see was done by students, every last bit of it.
